Poem

I’m Not Number 1 for nothing
I HAVE broken many records..
I HAVE destroyed many dreams..
I don’t play for myself
I play for my team

I have over 30 scholarships
From all over the nation
I don’t know where to go
I was told to be patient

I am thinking Georgia
Maybe Tennessee
How about Florida
I would love Miami

I'm 6 foot 1
225 pounds !
Muscles as solid as a rock !
No one can stop me now

It is my senior year
We made it to the championship game
I threw over 200 yards
Yea, I should be in the high school hall of fame

Now it is signing day
I have this one college on my mind
I have chosen Alabama
Go Roll Tide !

I’m number 1 coming out of high school
Football is my heart
Without that pigskin in my hands
My life will fall apart

I received a full ride scholarship
Free books AND free education
It did not come with free food or water though
That was not a good creation

The season is almost over
I am runer up for the Heisman !
I did not receive a single dime for my amazing season
That is like stealing money from a blind man

It is the national Championship game
Everyone in the country is EXCITED
My players and I are getting pumped and crazy
As if we are about to start a riot

It is the 3rd quarter
We are winning 21 to 7
Our confidence is high
As high as the clouds of Heaven

The final play was 14 iso
Is that the quarterback sneak?
Before I called hike
I glanced over the line to take a peak

The center snapped me the ball
I caught the ball and was hit in the back
Then the impossible happened
I felt an unusual crack...

I tried to get up
You know, walk it off
But I couldn’t
The feeling in my knee was weak and soft...

WE WON THE GAME
But I lost my football career
Turns out I broke my right leg
My mind and body was full of fear

Everything was getting worst
My life began to go down hill
I could not work due to my broken leg
So I had no money to pay the medical bills!

A year has past
No more football for me...
The closest I get to football
Is watching it on TV

I once was the number one football player
Now I am a sales clerk
Knowing I could have played pro
MAN...the thought really hurts

If I was paid to play
Everything would have been fine
Now I’m in the gutter struggling
To even come up with a single dime!!

I had everything going for me
Everybody was on my side
Then...BOOM...I broke my leg
And ALL my fans left me behind

I BROKE many records
I ONCED pushed all the other players aside
Now I’m just an average man

Fighting for any type of M...O...N...E...Y
